Frequently asked questions
How long does the full copy take?
It depends on the size of the server. Because of Discord's limits, a big server can take hours, even days. Meanwhile the channels already done go live, and you see the progress on the dashboard.
What happens if the bot stops?
No problem: after a restart it continues exactly where it stopped. No duplicate and no missing messages.
Are members copied too?
A bot cannot invite members to a server (Discord does not allow it). But whoever joins the backup server automatically gets their original roles. The full member list can be downloaded as CSV.
How big files can it copy?
As big as the backup server allows: 10 MB without boosts, 50 MB on Level 2, 100 MB on Level 3.
If I delete a message, is it deleted from the backup too?
Yes, the backup is an exact copy. If you switch it on on the dashboard, deleted messages can stay in the backup, marked „Deleted”.
Who can make a backup of a server?
Only someone who is an Administrator on both the original and the backup server.
